COLLEGE SPORTS: Some of the best rivalries are in college sports. Some really good ones are Oklahoma and Texas, Florida and Georgia, Duke and North Carolina, and my favorite, Ohio State and Michigan. Some of these rivalries are over 100 years old, The oldest I have mentioned is Ohio and Michigan, they have been playing since 1897. The two teams have squared up 111 times since 1897. Another great one is Kansas and Missouri. This rivalry has roots in the Civil War.
There are a few requirments to this list of rivalries, they must be a pretty long rivalry of at least 50 years, and must have at least one playoff game between each other. So, some of my favorites are as followed. The Broncos vs. the Raiders, this rivalry is an orignal AFL rivalry that is a classic. The Broncos bested the Raiders in the 1977 AFC championship game. Also, another great rivalry is the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. This is the oldest rivalry in the NFL and is pretty good. They've squared off 190 times. They Bears lead the all time series 93-91-6.
NHL rivalries are pretty stacked. They are full of tradition and fights, and near riots (see Bruins vs. Canadiens). Some of my favorites are the Bruins and Canadiens, the Rangers and Islanders, and the Sharks and the Kings. The oldest of those three are the Bruins and the Canadiens. They have played each other the most of any team in the NHL. I love watching these games because of the tradition and bitterness between each other.
